Caribbean Dreaming Pop-Up

Kriss Soonik

It was my 8th time in Tokyo but this time was extra special – I was finally there during the peak cherry blossoming. And I must say nothing really compares to these fluffy white and pink petals. Apparently Sakura season is bigger than Christmas in Japan. And now I know what the hype is about!

The main reason for my visit to Tokyo this time was our pop-up at Omotesando Hills Rocket at the heart of Tokyo’s most prestigious shopping street Omotesando. This is the legendary street where Gucci, Chanel, Loewe et al. have their flagships.

We had a fabulous opening party. Was so great seeing all my Japanese friends (thank you for my beautiful flowers and gifts!) and also meeting so many new faces. The pop-up’s theme was “Caribbean Dreaming” after our SS17 campaign. Guests were posing with our campaign stars dolphin and flamingo while sipping Litchi Blue cocktails. We had loads of fun as you can see from the gallery below.

Until next time Tokyo!

Caribbean Dreaming

Our SS17 campaign “Caribbean Dreaming” is all about the small joys in life.

My grandmother Maie became the unexpected style muse for the shoot. I remember her always being very glamorous. Even when she was sunbathing in the garden of our Summer cottage, she had a proper hairdo and purple lipstick on. It was the time when Estonia was still part of the Soviet Union and travelling abroad was impossible. You couldn´t just buy a ticket and fly to the Caribbean for a holiday, so you had no choice but to make the most of your backyard sunbathing sessions.

The modern reason for not being able to fly to the Caribbean is lack of time. Our busy lifestyles became the inspiration for our SS17 photoshoot. When you just don´t have the time for a vacation, you can always create your own sunshine. Take time off in small portions and enjoy these fun little moments in life. We always want more but sometimes we just have to make the most of what we already have!
