SS16 Top Fashion Trend

From Givenchy to Balenciaga, Burberry Prorsum, Celine and Moncler Gamme Rouge, underwear gets the spotlight on the SS16 catwalks. Lingerie is setting the direction for outerwear – finally the trends are catching up with what we have been doing the past few years 😉

Reveal your innate sensuality by taking off layers. This is a trend for the bold – leave a bit of lace peeking out here and there or show off the cheeky suspender detail on the bra strap.

Pictures2
Details make a difference. Make them the focus of your outfit, as seen at Lanvin and VETEMENTS. Don’t hide what’s supposed to be inside and change the traditional way you wear lingerie to update your look and set it apart from the masses.

For Spring/Summer 16 we have used the humble suspender detail in new and unexpected places – on bra straps, knickers and the halterneck elastics of tops and slips. The suspender clip is a functional piece as well as an adornment. Upgrade your bra game by wearing the straps criss-crossed or just show off the detail as it is.

As you probably know, many of our pieces can be worn as outerwear. For example, try the Susan Lace Top in Electric Blue or Polina Top in Nude with Orange flowers. Check out our “How to Wear” post showing different ways how to style the Polina Top.

Nude + Orange

A long time ago when I designed our SS15 collection I knew there comes a day when we’d have a nice tan and we’d love to wear something to show it off. That’s how the Nude+Orange range was born into the collection. The subtle nude colour complements the skin while touch of orange adds a warm glow. Continuing with the underwear as outerwear theme the stand-out piece of the line is definitely the Polina Top which can be worn as a babydoll or as a summer blouse. Don’t forget to check out the How to Wear story we did on Polina.

3 Ways to Wear: Polina Top

Polina Top is a classic, which we have recently re-launched due to the popular demand. This time it comes in gorgeous nude & orange French lace to make it a must have for summer. As well as being absolutely adorable Polina is every bit as versatile, it comes with a belt which can be worn in 2 different ways –- tightly around the body or leaving the sides floating. Here are some outfit ideas from our stylist. No doubt we all be rocking Polina this summer!

DayLookPolina

For a cute summer office outfit pair Polina with a skirt and flats. Keep the belt tight to emphasize the waist. Finish the look off with gold jewellery to compliment the nude & orange colour combination of the top. Switch the flats for heels to make it a day to night look.

Easy breezy evening look. Wear Polina with a pair of matching nude silk trousers and heels for a night out. These nude tones will really compliment any kind of skin tone.

Inject a bit of glamour to your weekend look by pairing Polina with cool, distressed pair of jeans. Extra points for going full on denim look adding a jacket. Make sure to wear Polina with one our Silvia Bras underneath – beige one for a nude look or perhaps Electric Blue or Shocking Pink to add a splash of colour.

Meet Sakura

I met Sakura on my last trip to Japan. She works as a PR at PR01 agency representing the coolest fashion brands, including Cannabis boutique were Kriss Soonik collections are stocked and where we had our last Tokyo event. Sakura is one of the most stylish girls I have met. She has a very strong personal style and knows how to mix our designs into her outfits. We had a chat with her about Tokyo and her style, here´s what she told us…

What are your top 3 favourite places in Tokyo?
Harajuku, Shibuya & Ginza!
Harajuku – area where new fashion & culture trends are born, a very hip part of town.
Shibuya – area of Tokyo, where fashion, culture & music emerge and mix. It’s super crazy but fun!
Ginza – more traditional neighbourhood.

What’s one thing everyone needs to do when visiting Tokyo?
Make sure to visit some traditional buildings, see the beautiful landscape and have dinner at a nice Japanese restaurant. I’d also recommend to visit the Harajuku area in order to experience the Japanese fashion & culture. I think that young people in Harajuku represent really well contemporary Japanese fashion & culture.

Tell us a little bit about your personal style.
I wear clothes that fit my lifestyle and the occasion. When I go to the beach, I like to wear a cover up over a bikini with Vans sneakers. On a night out I usually put on a dress with a biker jacket. And on a lazy weekend to a brunch with my girlfriends I’d dress up my casual outfit with a Kriss Soonik Susan Lace Top.

What are your favourite fashion brands?
If I had to name one it would be Prada.

What do you think why Japanese women like Kriss Soonik?
I think that every Japanese woman wants to be strong yet elegant and Kriss Soonik products have both of those qualities.

What´s your personal favorite piece from the collections and why? How do you wear it?
Kristel Turtleneck Suspender Top as it was my first ever Kriss Soonik piece. It’s stylish and has a bit of a sexy edge. I love that you can wear as a regular top, with the suspenders showing. I keep the styling simple and pair it with skinny jeans. It truly is a special piece of clothing.

3 Ways to Wear: Polo Suspender Top

There´s a reason why our Suspender Tops are selling like hot cakes – they are versatile! Yes, you can hide the garter details under your skirt with stockings or wear it simply hiding under your trousers as a regular top but that´s only half of the fun. It´s time you showed off your suspenders! Here are a few ideas how to wear the top this week.

3waystowearKristelPolo

This day look has a very strong rock´n´roll edge. Spice the Top up with other attention seeking detailing – leather jacket, printed trousers, cool tank boots – and your suspenders will make you look like a bad-ass rock star.

Your office look just got a quirky twist! A very feminine outfit that will make your average cardi/skirt combination look fresh and exciting. It´s also perfect for after work dinner and cocktails without looking boring.

The Polo Suspender Top will give your girly weekend outfit a powerful touch. The top is such an easy item to wear – just pair it with a skirt and off you go. Your effortless yet sexy weekend look sorted – you´re very welcome.

Behind the Scenes: Autumn/Winter 2014 Moodboard

Cosy up. Elegantly, please!
Every Autumn and Winter we shift towards the warm and comfy. Focus on materials that make us want to cosy up while staying sexy and elegant.
The star of this season is the soft and sumptuous Italian ribbed viscose jersey. Next to our decadent signature French lace and naughty mesh, the combination is bold and beautiful (yes, I just wrote that…).

Adventures in Brazil
Lime green mixed with grey, burgundy and black – combinations that shouldn´t work but work so very well. But then again, I designed most of the collection while travelling in Brazil. Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza, Jericoacoara – the powerful natural colour statements mixed with the man-made greyness is something that strikes you over and over again in that country.

Get your rabbit out
The AW14 collection has been inspired by an Estonian expression “Get the rabbit out of your trousers” which means be yourself, be brave and get out there! As well as the phrase representing the whole ethos of the brand, it has also literally influenced the collection –  little Marabou puffs reminding fluffy bunny tails have been used as a playful detail on our signature pieces – suspender tops, lace lingerie sets and luxe loungewear. And the best thing about them, they are removable!

Cheeky elegance
One of my main muses throughout the years has been Audrey Hepburn. Her free spirit and effortless style keep charming me over and over again. “What would Audrey do?” is often the starting point of a new collection. But this season we added a touch of rock ´n´ roll into the mix. No doubt that when Kate Moss becomes a cheeky Playboy bunny, it will turn into a reference point for our bunny-inspired collection.
