In March I headed to Tokyo to host our second birthday party this year (you can read about our first birthday party here).
The Tokyo event was held together with Opaque – one of the chicest department/concept stores in the Marunouchi district.
I knew my colleagues in Tokyo can throw a good party but the outcome was really amazing. Guests, including Tokyo´s top fashion editors from ELLE, Vogue, WGSN, and our Japanese customers, enjoyed champagne and cupcakes while browsing through the new collections. But the attraction of the evening was our super “kawaii” (meaning cute, the word I always hear most in Tokyo) model Katya starring in the “live” photoshoot.
To the tunes of pop diva Kylie Minogue´s greatest hits (I flew there from London after all), Katya posed not only for the professional camera but for all the phones and tiny cameras that came out as soon as she got on “stage”.
The Japanese are known for taking a lot pictures, so the “live” photoshoot idea was spot on for this event. What I really loved was that the planned shoot immediately became more about amateur photo taking, which gave it a new and enjoyable edge. At first guests were only taking pictures of the model but after a few rounds they all wanted a picture with the gorgeous thing. Although, it´s now quite hard to track down all the images on social media…
Huge thank you to everyone who made the Tokyo birthday event so much fun! #ksworldtour is now definitely in full swing.
