2016 Top 5

Reflecting on a year is such a great task! Especially when you´ve had a year like 2016. Putting together the top 5 was easy because there were so many things to choose from. Here are my highlights of the year 2016:

1) La Foret pop-up
In March we opened our very own shop in one of the busiest department stores in Tokyo – La Foret in Harajuku. It was only for 2 weeks but I got a feel what our real boutique could look like! It was definitely a milestone for me on this journey. When I first visited Tokyo more than 4 years ago, I never dared to dream that we´ll have our store there. But I guess it´s ok to dream big!

2) TFW Fashion show
Fashion shows are always very hard work. They take a lot of energy and time to organise, so we do them only when the time is right and I start craving for some creative excitement. So when we were invited to show at this year´s 10th anniversary Tallinn Fashion Week, I didn´t hesitate. It was a superfun show, the girls looked absolutely magnificent and the music was just too good to not throw a party on the catwalk.

3) Our giftbox
It has been quite a journey getting our gift box ready. I can say that we´ve been designing it for the past 5 years. I had a very specific idea what I wanted but all the samples we made were never right, so I decided not to hurry. After slightly updating our logo beginning of the year, I realised that classics are the best. Our black labels with the gold cat have been with us from the very beginning, we´ve updated them every now and then but the idea stays the same. So I decided to go for a black matt box with our gold cat. Clean, luxurious and ours. Really loving it!

4) AW16 campaign “The Morning After”
I am thrilled about our creative girl squad this year! Sandra, Nele, Johanna, Getter – it´s a shoutout to you all! We did some really cool stuff in 2016 and for me the highlight was the AW16 campaign “The Morning After”. Simple, fun, sexy. I feel that the #krisssooniksquad is on fire and we´ll bring you even cooler stuff in 2017.

5) Kriss Soonik Women
What I am most proud of is all the women around the world supporting us and wearing our designs. This means everything to me! I can see our concept spreading, more women finding out about us. There are so many of you sharing your pics and spreading the love. Thank you for your ongoing support! It wouldn´t be the same without you all! I promise to bring you new, fresh, fun designs in 2017!

AW16 sneak peek

This long, yet joyful process of collection development is now over and the results will be launched on the 1st of September. However, we just couldn’t wait to show you what Kriss has come up with for this season.

So here is a teaser for you with a couple of products from the AW16 collection.

This season is full of little details like suspender clips that bring excitement to the design and really make the designs luxurious and unique. We took the suspender clip out of it’s expected place and played around with it until we found the right function for it in our design. Talking about the suspender clips, they’re not only a cool part of the design but also a practical addition – the AW16 signature golden suspender clips on bra straps give you the option to criss-cross straps on the back.

Looking back at the creative process Kriss said: “To get to this result, I did a lot of testing and failing. At some point I gave up – it just didn´t work for the bras, it wasn´t functional. But I didn´t give up. And then one day I had a eureka moment. If you use a metal ring and hook the suspender through it, it immediately becomes beautiful and functional!!”

To go with the bra, we are launching knickers made from super soft Modal Jersey to spice up your knicker drawer. And for the WOW effect we’ve added the double elastic which ties around the waist and is held in place by the suspender clip detail on the back.

Moving on from intimate pieces to something you can wear everywhere – home, work or out dining. We find the option to wear loungewear outside of your house exciting, so everyone can see the gorgeous pieces and how you’ve styled them. It’s quite exhilarating to bring intimacy outdoors, isn’t it?Show off your curves in the Kristel Modal Jersey suspender top. Style it with jeans or a skirt and leave the suspenders out to bring a bit of boudoir outdoors. The long sleeve and turtleneck design makes it perfect for those chilly autumn nights, while the cutout neckline keeps the look sexy. Don’t you just love it? Like the Top, you can also style our Nele Gowns with a pair of jeans and jewellery to feel amazing and be the center of attention wherever you go. Or just wear it at home and up your loungewear game to the next level.

As mentioned earlier we have loads of details in the AW16 collection and this gown is no different – it features a satin belt and furry pockets and is decorated with French lace inserts on sleeves and on the hemline. We are really excited to show you the full collection and all the colours we have chosen for this season.
When you do what you love and don’t give up, the results speak for themselves 😉

Meet Harriet Spence

Meet Harriet, the tireless fashion PR who takes care of our press coverage in the UK.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am thirty-something (I tend to forget the exact digits!). I have always worked in fashion PR and launched my own agency HPR LONDON in 2009.
I am mum to Frenchie Maggie May and recently married Nathan. I love country and rock and roll and wish I was a cowgirl!

How would you describe your personal style?
I am more into a winter wardrobe, layering different textures mainly of the black variety. Working in fashion PR – black is the classic uniform but I try and mix it up with different silhouettes. I’m currently into really wide oversized pants teamed with a simple tee.
I couldn’t live without my vintage leather biker, cropped leather trousers (not to be worn together) and an oversized piece of knitwear.
I like clean, minimal lines and avoid colour as much as possible.
I usually buy Superfine, Acne, Rick Owens, Weekday and completely regret not buying the Vetements platform flame boots…!

On a Saturday evening we would most probably find you …
On a summers evening on a rooftop trying to catch the last of the sun and in the winter somewhere dark and cosy drinking red wine.

Top 3 favourite places in London.
Richmond Park, you feel like you are nowhere near the city.
Blacks, Soho.
The Scotch of St James, for an intimate gig.

What’s your personal favorite piece from Kriss’s collections and why?
The new swimwear line is great, simple shapes and the cut is perfect for me.
Kriss sent me the Gone Tanning bikini with a leopard lining – it was the first thing to go in my holiday suitcase!
When I met Kriss for the first time a few years ago the first thing I did was order her signature white lace triangle bra.
