Let´s talk about sex! Or maybe some other day...
We ´ve just launched our new SS13 black fishnet range - by far the sexiest line I´ve ever created. At least never before have I had to add stars to certain “naughty” bits to make our look book images Facebook friendly. But I also believe that this range is one of the most fashionable.
My fascination with fishnet is not a new thing. I produced the first samples about 4 years ago. But then I never managed to find the right fabric for manufacturing and started postponing the process. Finding a good looking fishnet is a difficult task. The fabric has received a very tacky reputation and therefore most of the sample materials I saw where exactly that.
After uncountable phone calls to manufacturers around the globe, I accidentally found the perfect fishnet from the place I wouldn´t have even thought looking for – our lace manufacturer in France (yes, that´s how posh it is!). The perfect soft touch, right hole size and high quality. Adding a satin bow and our signature cat logo button, the final concept was born.
From the start I wanted to create pieces that were great for layering. Usually my favourite pieces to design are the ones that cover the body and have a hint of cheeky naughtiness (like our signature Kristel Turtle Neck Supsender Top or Bridget Body). But here that strategy didn´t seem an option. I almost didn´t add our classic Kristel Suspender Top shape into the range as I felt it was too sexy. Then my mum (!) came to the rescue and said, “You can´t be that conservative! Add some spice to the collection.” And mums know best, right? This top turned out to be one of the best-selling styles to boutiques.
I imagine the Julia Robe being worn with a smart white shirt and jeans to get a chic office look, Susan Motion with a T-shirt, A-line skirt and heels makes it look and the Inge Gown on top of your bikinis this Summer.
But for everyone who still believe that fishnet should be kept for kinky evenings in, you can follow the style tip from one of the most fashionable lingerie boutiques in the world, Faire Frou Frou, “mixing your bra with handcuffs is always a fashion DO”
Check out our pinterest page dedicated to “Underwear as Outerwear” to get ideas how to mix fishnet into your daily wardrobe.
